Ceremony and Reception
The Gasworks is licensed to hold civil ceremonies with up to 80 guests from Saturday to Monday. You have the choice to hold your ceremony in either the Retort or the Gasholder, enabling your day to be more historical or contemporary. During the warmer months our lawned courtyard also offers a beautiful outdoor space for a ceremony.
As Derbyshire’s only round wedding reception room, the Gas Holder is the newest addition to the site. Constructed on the foot print of the original gas holder we have created a unique and stunning reception room, which can hold up to 80 seated for a wedding breakfast or 120 evening guests.
The After Party
By evening The Gasholder is transformed into the dancefloor. Whether you choose our recommended DJ, or bring in a live band, the round room makes for some amazing acoustics to dance the night away.
Relax
Between the Retort and the Gas Holder lies The Glazed Link, linking the new with the old part of the building. It provides the perfect space for guests to enjoy drinks and canapés before the wedding breakfast.
This light and airy room also features the historic brick diaper pattern seen on the outside of the building and has access to our newly finished courtyard area.
We also have The Retort – Featuring red brick walls and a vaulted ceiling with exposed iron work, The Retort makes the perfect space for your bar and relaxed seating area. The space has an industrial feel to it which is softened by the oak wood floor.
Our Grounds
From the historic Retort House to the landscaped courtyard and iconic Gasholder, The Gasworks offers beautiful backdrops for wedding photography throughout the day.
You will have exclusive access to our grounds including our woodland area with winding path and the rear courtyard area.
To top it off we are dog friendly, so you can spend your magical day with the four legged members of your family.

The Gasworks has its own carpark, which includes space for blue badge holders. There is step-free access to the whole of the building.
