Wartime In Sudbury – with Wendy Sevier

Friday 3rd May, 11:00 – 13:00

Join us for our monthly History and Hobbies talk. This time with former resident and active member of the Sudbury Local History Group, Wendy Sevier.

Refreshments will be available and included in ticket price. Free to Sudbury residents. Doors open at 11am, talk starts approx. 11.15am.

Wendy will be reading two World War II memoirs from Sudbury, one which will be her mother’s, Audrey Hitchmough. Audrey was born and grew up in Sudbury and was 15 when WW2 broke out. The second memoir is from one of the evacuees who, aged 11, was sent to Sudbury from Manchester with her two brothers only a few days before the war began. She spent the duration of the war living in Sudbury Hall.

If there is time, Wendy will also talk briefly about some of the young men who went away to war and a few anecdotes picked up from her grandparents.
