March Update From The Gasworks Sudbury
Lights, camera and (almost) action! This month, lighting and flooring has been installed and we have also been working on the heritage interpretation in the building.
The heritage interpretation will explore the history of The Gasworks for our visitors to learn more about the building, with engaging content created by our Local History Group and curated by G+ Studios.
The interpretation will feature information boards and images, audio-visual elements, as well as a recreation of parts of the retort bench, kindly built by JCB apprentices. Thanks also goes to Sudbury Senior Citizens for their kind donation of a pull-down screen for future events.
The building is almost complete on the outside, too. The car park is well under way and our team of volunteers have been busy planting trees, preparing soil and sowing seeds. Thank you to everyone that has been involved.
A COMMUNITY EFFORT
The Gasworks Sudbury is a community-backed project, and relies on the support of local people. Our goal remains for the residents of Sudbury and surrounding areas to benefit from this building, and if you can spare some time to help us, we’d love to hear from you.
We are currently seeking a volunteer Minutes Secretary to record Board meetings, as well as people to help us with the running of events, building maintenance and grounds work.
